Willie Edward (Bill) Putman, Jr., 82, of Fayetteville, Ark. passed away on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022 at the Arkansas State Veterans Home in Fayetteville. He was born on April 3, 1939 in Frederick, Okla. to the late Willie Edward Putman and Ola Ester (Reaves) Putman.
Bill was raised in Bristow, Okla. and graduated from Nuyaka High School in 1957. He married Mary Ann Rogers on May 7, 1960 in Madill. He joined the United States Army and served from 1961 to 1971.
Bill lived with Mary and their children in Noble, Okla. before moving to Madill in 1972. Bill worked as the Undersheriff for Marshall County for a number of years before working for the State of Oklahoma Tax Commission, until his retirement. They traveled full time for several years before moving to Bella Vista and Fayetteville.
Bill was a member of the Church of Christ, and he was on the activities event committee for the Veterans Center where he lived. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, photography and spending time with grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Putman of Fayetteville, Ark.; children, Richard Putman and wife Sherry of Bella Vista, Ark., Annette Young and husband John of Russellville, Ark.; three grandchildren: Cory Putman and wife Erin, Holden Young and Noah Young and wife Cameron; one great-grandchild, Thea Avery Ann Putman.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 from 1-8 p.m. with a family hour from 6-7 p.m. at the Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.
Service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022 at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Oklahoma. Chris Rogers will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Oakland, Oklahoma.
Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla.
