Vernon Dan Robinson, Sr., 82, of Kingston, Okla. passed away on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. He was born on August 14, 1939, in Sand Springs, Okla. to the late Henry Herman Robinson and Eula Rachel Landrum Robinson.
Vernon was raised in Sand Springs where he attended school. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 17, serving 22 years, four tours in Vietnam on the USS Morton and retiring as Chief Petty Officer in 1978.
Vernon married Reva Irene Tate on Febr. 18, 1966 in Long Beach, Calif. They lived in Seattle, Wash., before moving to Kingston in 1989 where he lived the rest of his life. He served as a Reserve Officer for Marshall County Sheriff’s Office from 1997-2007 and First Responder and volunteer Fire Fighter for Lebanon Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, throwing horseshoes, researching family history and gardening.
He is survived by wife, Reva Irene Robinson; children: Vernon Dan Robinson Jr. and wife Liz of Everett, Wash., Mark Lee Robinson of Manhattan, Kan., granddaughter, Kesley Anne Robinson; Fur Babies: Abbie and Bingo; sisters: Eula Graves, Charlene Sala and Sharon Evans.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice Ragsdale; three brothers, Virgil H., Hershel L., H. Dwayne Robinson; father-in-law, Andrew Lee Tate and wife Marge; mother in-law, Helen Tate Schoumaker.
Graveside service was held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Okla.
