LeeRoy Ricky Merritt

LeeRoy Ricky Merritt was born Thursday, September 10, 1953 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Roy Lee Merritt and Pearl Agnes (Crosswhite) Merritt. He passed from this life on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 70.

Ricky grew up and was a graduate of Duncan High School. He was a jack of all trades working various jobs. He worked as a car salesman and detailed vehicles for many years. Ricky enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids, and having cookout gatherings with family and friends. He always lived his life to the fullest. Ricky was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Gail Merritt; sisters, Ruby Arterberry, Joyce Easley, Louise Moore, and Eveline Posey; and brother, Tommy Merritt.

Ricky is survived by his wife, Ruby Gail Merritt; a sister, Pauline Burgess; sons, Michael Merritt and his wife, Mistie, and Chad Merritt; grandkids, Brittany Merritt and Preston Self, Dylan Merritt and Desirae Kemp, Trevor Merritt, and Jacklyn Merritt; great-grandkids, Cannon Merritt and Marleigh Self; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Ron Robertson officiating. Committal services will follow at Woodberry Forest Cemetery with Michael Merritt, Chad Merritt, Dylan Merritt, Trevor Merritt, Preston Self, and Billy Howard serving as pallbearers.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service in Madill.
