Kyle Randal “Randy” Tate, 52, of Cobb, Okla. passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021 at the Alliance Hospital in Durant. He was born on December 17, 1968 in Talihina, Okla. to Jimmy Norman Tate and Sisteline Lucy Scott Kusler.
He was raised in the Madill and Oakland area, graduating from Madill High School in 1987. During his younger years, Randy worked at Jim Kusler’s station where he beat on truck tires and pumped gas. He loved his stepdad, Jim Kusler who helped mold him into a man.
After high school, Randy went to work for a Seismograph crew and traveled with them as a “Jug Hustler” and later on, he became a roughneck on an oil rig. He moved back to Madill and worked a short time at Kusler’s station before going to work for Love County Conservation District for 20-plus years. Randy semi-retired to take care of the grandkids. He was currently working for the Choctaw Nation Environmental Protection Service as an environmentalist.
Randy married Carla Deane Rorex on Jan. 18, 1994 in Madill, Okla. He was a member of the New Beginnings Church and he enjoyed coaching baseball, hunting and fishing. Randy’s greatest love was his family, grandkids and going to the barn.
He is survived by his wife: Carla Tate of Cobb, Okla.; children: Kyle Tate and wife Megan of Mead, Okla., Josh Tate and wife Brooke of Silo, Okla., Kylia Tate and boyfriend Jacob of Cobb, Okla.; grandchildren: Jax Tate, Holden Tate, Landri Tate, Rexley Rorex, Mason Lance, Marlie Dean; father, Jimmy Tate of Dickson, Okla.; brother, Jimmy Michael Tate of Lone Grove, Okla.; sisters, Cheree Lindamood of Oakland, Okla. and Kimberly Henley of Coppell, Texas and several nieces, nephews and three aunts.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Sisteline Kusler and stepdad, Jim Kusler; brother, Greg Tate and uncles and aunts.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021 at the Watts Funeral Home of Madill, Oklahoma from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a family hour from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Oct. 20, 2021 at the Watts Memorial Chapel of Madill, Okla. Jesse Pacheco will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Mead Cemetery.
Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home of Madill, Okla.
Casket Bearers: Hunter Murphree, Joey Gastineau, Jacob Rorex, Trey Ybarra, Jacob Dean, Sierra Buck, Marc Neal and Josh Kempe. Honorary Bearers: Roy and Heather Ingram, Chad Bradley, Loyd Adams, Jeremy McBride, Silo Blue Team, Class of 1987 and Choctaw EPS Team.
