Kingston woman killed in collision with train in Bryan County

BRYAN COUNTY – One person was killed in north Bryan County on Saturday afternoon in a collision involving a train.

Eva Backenstoes, 35, of Kingston, was driving a 2021 Jeep Wrangler at the intersection of S. Lone Oak Road and the Caddo Highway at about 2 p.m., according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Backenstoes attempted to cross an unguarded set of railroad tracks and did not make it across before a train struck her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bryan County EMS.

The OHP was assisted in the investigation by the Bryan County EMS, Bryan County Sheriff Department, Durant Fire Department, Caddo Police Department, and Union Pacific Railroad.
