Iris Elaine (Forsythe) Navarro, 69, of Love County, gained her angel wings and left this earthly realm on November 5, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
It would be wrong to say that Iris lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. As a Christian, Iris’s faith in God was unwavering and she was an inspiration to those around her as she continued to keep her head up and faith in the Lord. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like.
Iris was born on September 10, 1953 and graduated from Madill High School in 1972. Iris was a proud resident of Marietta, Okla., for 45 years; she loved her community and was proud of where she lived. She spent 17 wonderful years working at the Marietta Cookie Bakery where she retired from in 1997. She devoted the remaining years of her life as a homemaker to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Iris enjoyed collecting antiques and had an eye for finding hidden treasures. Some of her happiest times were spent running the back roads, fishing the Red River, holiday gatherings, and just sitting on her front porch with family and friends. Her children meant the world to her, but her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She has a special bond with each of them and was so proud of them all. She was also excited to welcome her first great-grandchild in the upcoming weeks.
Iris was preceded in death by her grandparents, Daddy Paul and Mama Lois Armstrong; stepfather, Glyn Hicks; Aunt Kay Wood and Uncle Randell Wood; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Lott.
Iris is survived by her mother, Virgina Hicks of Love Co.; husband, Ruben Navarro of Love Co.; siblings, Teresa Lott of Love Co. and Russell Woods and wife Debbie of Austin, Texas; her four children, Kimberly Hicks of Navarre, Fla., Ryan Robbins of Boley, Okla., Jennifer Kershner of Love Co., and Shadoe Navarro of Love Co.; stepson, Kasey Navarro of Love Co.; eight grandchildren, Scarlett Alexandria Tsuji and husband Mason, Isabella, Cole, and Georgia Spiers all of Navarre, Fla., Rylyn Taylor, Bradley Kershner, Hailynn Navarro, and Phoenix Westfall all of Love Co.; future great-grandson, Walker Allen Tsuji of Navarre; nieces and nephews, Niel Stuckey and daughter Della Rose of Madill, Joe Stuckey and wife Macey of Love Co., Tracey Vinson and husband Jeremiah of Madill, Brandon Lott of Love Co., Chris Woods and wife Kelly of Austin, Olivia Maschhoff and husband Justin of North Carolina, Christina Boggess, Alex Woods and wife Camille, and Melissa Woods all of Austin.
