DeLana Kay Tarpley, 61, of Alba, Texas passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024. She was born on May 10, 1962, in Arlington, California to Aulton Ray Stepp and Judith Lorraine Stepp Sloan.
DeLana was raised in Franklin, Pa., before moving to Kingston in 1971. She worked as a cook at Soldier Creek, and she attended the Kingston Baptist Church where she was baptized. She lived in Dallas, Texas before moving to East Texas where she lived the rest of her life.
DeLana enjoyed playing her guitar and singing. She also enjoyed cross stitching and fishing. Her greatest love was her kids, grandkids, her companion Mario and her dog “Baby Girl”.
She is survived by her children: Nathan Paul Vaughn of Gladewater, Texas, Devi Raye Vaughn of Longview, Texas, Rebecca Ellen Cole and husband Cassidy of Kilgore, Texas; grandchildren: Zein Paul Vaughn, Zyler Paul Vaughn, Ashlyn Mae Jones, Emma Leigh Naomi Jones, Caitlyn Marie Howell and Lona La’Ree Cole; mother: Judith L. Sloan and husband Leon of Kingston, Okla.; companion: Mario Orona of Alba, Texas; brothers: Harrison Ray Stepp and wife Susan of Kingston, Okla.; Arthur Rance Stepp and wife Karie of Madill, Okla.; nephew, Jason Cole Stepp; niece, Alexandria Raye Stepp; and numerous, nephews, nieces and cousins.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at Watts Funeral Home in Kingston, Okla.
