Cecile Marie Self, 98, of Madill, Okla., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at her home in Madill. She was born on August 9, 1923, in Old Woodville, Okla. to the late Albert Ezekiel Martin and Minnie Cecile Hendrix Martin.
Marie was raised in Marshall County and graduated from Madill High School in 1941. She worked in her early years as a waitress at her uncle’s café located on the square, Jacksons Café and later for the Madill Pants Factory where she retired after 39 years.
Marie married Cecil Self on July 20, 1946 in West, Texas and was married 55 years before he preceded her in death on February 21, 2001. Marie was a member of the Church of Christ in Kingston and she was the president of the Oakland Homemakers. Marie enjoyed working in the playing skip-bo, watching OU and OSU football, working in her yard, sewing, making quilts and shopping.
She is survived by her children: Charla Evelyn Lancaster of Madill, Okla., Janice Kaye Fields of Madill, Oklahoma, Sue Lynne Dillow of Melissa, Texas, Deborah Lea Hewitt and husband Terry of Lebanon, Okla., Cecil Dean of Oakview, Okla., Martin Dale Self and wife Debi, Madill, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one cousin, Yvonne Kious of McAlester, Okla.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Self; brother, Roy Martin; Albert Earl Martin; sister, “Tootsie” Moore; son in-law, Lee Lancaster; great-granddaughter, Halee Michelle Hewitt.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022 at Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla., from 12-8 p.m. with a family hour from 4-5 p.m.
Service will be Monday, Jan. 31, 2022 at 2 p.m., at Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Okla. Chris Webb will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be Wayne Davis, Bill Macon, Kirk Gregory, Richard Page, Gary Beaver and Dennis Self.
Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma.
