Carol Jean Shumaker

Carol Jean Petty Shumaker, 78, of Ardmore, Okla., passed away on November 23, 2022, at her home. She was born on August 27, 1944, in Ardmore, Okla., to the late Theron Robert (TR) Petty and Mildred Katherine Byrd Petty.

Carol grew up in Mannsville, Okla., where she attended Mannsville schools. She later lived in Alaska and California before moving back to Mannsville. Carol worked the Clint Williams Company for several years before she retired in 2002. She was a member of the Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church in Lone Grove, Okla., and the Ladies Auxiliary. Carol enjoyed sewing, going to church, working in the flower beds, spending time with her family and loved her grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her children: Kathy McCuistion and husband John of Ardmore, Okla., Pamela Davis of Ardmore, Okla., Brandi Gothard and husband Lee of Lone Grove, Okla.; grandchildren: Sammy III, Jennifer, J.R., Brandon, Dakota, Paige, Leigha, Jacob, Hailee, Jacee; great-grandchildren: Sadie, Conner, Lillian, Addison, Armyah, Brantley, Wyatt, Kayla, Cannon; and great-great-grandchild, Beckham.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Alva Johnson; son, Sammy James Shumaker II; brothers: Billy Don Petty and wife Angie and Harold Dale Petty and wife Ruth; and two grandchildren: Gracee and Braden.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. from 12-8 p.m. with a family hour from 3-4 p.m.

Services will be Monday, November 28, 2022, at 2 pm at the Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. Royce McClendon will officiate the service.

Casket Bearers are Dakota Shumaker, Brandon Crawly, Jacob Rowten, Sammy Shumaker III, JR Royal, Robert Petty, Acie Petty and Brett Petty.

Interment will be at the Mannsville Cemetery in Mannsville, Oklahoma. Service is under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.
