Peggy Jean Stilley Morgan, 95, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025.
She was born on July 29, 1929, in Mannsville, Johnston County, Oklahoma, to Argus Cast Stilley and Eva Pearl Sims Stilley. The eldest of eight children, Peggy naturally grew into the role of matriarch—a position she carried with grace, strength, and deep love throughout her life.
Peggy was baptized into the Church of Christ at the age of 13, and her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life. She faithfully took her children to church, instilling in them the same love for God and devotion to spiritual life that shaped her own journey.
On October 2, 1948, she married the love of her life, Calvin Clyde Morgan, in Rockwall, Texas. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and faith.
A lifelong learner and avid reader, Peggy was rarely seen without a book in hand, finding joy in stories of all kinds. Her greatest passion, however, was genealogy. She dedicated countless hours to tracing her family’s roots, preserving the stories of generations past for those who came after. She took immense pride in her heritage and delighted in sharing her discoveries with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Clyde Junior Morgan and Judie Morgan, Sherry Morgan, Karen Morgan Palmer and Clifford Palmer. Peggy was a proud and loving grandmother to Lisa Morgan Bush, Erin Morgan Greer and fiancé Josh White, Dustin Palmer and wife Natasha Palmer, Lindsay Palmer and fiancé Robert “Danny” Wingfield, Ryan Morton, and Deidre Morton. She was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren: Jake and Cameron Bush, Lily Greer, Jayden Morton, Morgan, Zion, Olivia, Zachary, and Sophia Palmer, Madison, Mackenzie Stewart and Elijah Wingfield.
She is survived by her siblings: Shirley Maxine Stilley, Argus Alfred “Sonny” Stilley, Virginia Ann Broughton, and Barbara Louise Stilley Golenski.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Calvin Clyde Morgan; her parents, Argus and Eva Stilley; and her siblings, Jackie Harrell Stilley, William Franklin “Bill” Stilley and Wanda Jo Alberson.
Peggy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of faith, family, love, and curiosity will continue to live on through the generations she so deeply cherished.
Pallbeares will be Dustin Palmer, Ryan Morton, Zion Palmer, Josh White, Danny Wingfield, Mathew Stewart and honorary pallbearer Jayden Morton.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill.
Arrangements under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
