Karen Julia Mitchell Sims was born on June 15, 1961, in Lexington Park, Maryland to parents James and Betty (Dunnie) Mitchell. Karen passed from this life on Monday, April 1, 2024, at her home in Kingston, Oklahoma at the age of 62. Karen graduated from Abbeville High School in 1980 and Wallace Community College in 1982. She moved to Oklahoma in 2000 from Alabama and she has worked as a nurse and most recently as a truck dispatcher for the last 18 years. She was of Baptist faith, and she enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies, working, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents James Mitchell Sr. and Betty Mitchell; brother James Mitchell Jr.; twin sister Sharon Mitchell and several aunts and uncles.
Loved ones left behind to continue her legacy are her children Wes Sims and life partner Lupe of Moxee, Wash. and Adrienne Sims of Calera, Okla.; brothers Troy Mitchell and wife Stacey of Cairo, Ga. and Gary Mitchell and life partner Laurie of Dothan, Ala.; granddaughter Jessa Sims of Moxee, Wash.; nephews Kyle Braley and wife Brenda of Florien, La. and Cody Braley of Kingston, Okla.; great niece Callie Braley of Lacey, Wash.; uncle Tommy Dunnie and wife Lucille of Pleasant Grove, Ala.; bonus daughter Nicole Castle; and numerous extended family and friends.
