Arthur Gene Langston passed from this life on January 3, 2022 at Brookside Nursing Center in Madill, Okla. at the age of 73 years. Arthur was born in Santa Fe, N.M. on November 28, 1948 to the late Lee Langston and Velma Jean (Anderson) Langston.
Arthur attended and graduated high school at Waldron High School in Waldron, Ark. After graduating, Arthur went on to bravely serve his country by joining the United States Army. Most of his military career was spent in Fort Hood, Texas.
Once he was discharged from the military, Arthur began a career in the grocery store business. He was the store manager for several grocery store chains and enjoyed his work. Arthur had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and was good at it, but most of all, he loved fishing. He was known to be fast-witted, sarcastic in his own way, and fun to be around. Arthur loved dancing and was a great dancer. He was a real gentleman and had a great love for God. Arthur was that person that was an all-around great man, but you definitely knew it if you got on his bad side.
Arthur was preceded in death by both parents; a daughter, Nikki Jean Starn; and a brother, Lee Allen Langston.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory six children; brother, Rik Hawkins of Purcell, Okla.; sisters, Sherry Slaten-Gimlin of Greenwood, Ark., and Cathy Robles of Abilene, Texas; dear friend, Mary Cohee of Hartshorne, Okla., who Arthur referred to as “his person.” He also leaves numerous other relatives and friends.
The family has chosen cremation services and there are currently no services scheduled.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hartwell Funeral Home.
