KINGSTON – Kingston resident and Marshall County Commissioner, Josh Cantrell, announces that he is running for the Republican nomination for Oklahoma State House District 49, which encompasses portions of Carter, Love and Marshall counties. Current State Representative, Tommy Hardin will be term-limited in 2022.
“I love my community and Oklahoma. After prayerful consideration and discussions with family and friends, I am asking for your vote next June to be the Republican nominee for Oklahoma State House in District 49,” Commissioner Cantrell said. “I have lived in Oklahoma all my life, and I feel a calling to serve and continue the efforts to improve the quality of life for not just District 49, but for all Oklahoman’s. I want to make sure the values and opportunities we have in rural Oklahoma are valued, and our communities continue to grow.”
Commissioner Cantrell grew up in Kingston until high school graduation. Thereafter, he graduated from East Central University, with a bachelor’s degree in 1997. He started his career in the construction industry where he quickly rose up from the ranks becoming a project manager where he oversaw projects in all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Josh Cantrell was first elected to Marshall County Commissioner in 2017. Cantrell is married to Tanya and together they have two sons, Jarron and Marshall. The Cantrell family are active members of their community. With both boys being involved in agriculture they are avid supporters of 4-H and Jr. Livestock Association. Josh’s strong dedication to his community is reflected in the projects he has participated. Josh and Tanya are owner/operator of Kingston Sign and Design in Kingston, Okla.
Josh is a member of the Republican party and serves as Commissioner of District 2 as well as serving as County Commissioner Chairman. Josh currently sits on the board for ACCO Legislative Committee. He is a member of the CAB Board, and CED 3 Board. In 2016, Josh ran for election as District 2 County Commissioner of Marshall County, Oklahoma.
As your next State Representative, Josh will continue the protect the rights for the unborn, protect Oklahoman’s 2nd Amendment rights to defend self and property, will be vocal about the continued needs for infrastructure in south eastern Oklahoma and publicly maintain roads and bridges to help grow the local economy while also protecting Oklahoma from the Federal overreach of the Biden Administration.
